💰 2026 PRICING — seats, plans and the new AI credits, in plain English
Pricing, decoded

What monday.com really costs in 2026.

The pricing changed this year and most explanations of it read like a phone contract. Here's the version you'd get from a friend: how seats work, what the AI credits actually mean, and how to guess your real monthly bill before you commit.

Workflow Vantage is a monday.com affiliate. If you sign up through our links we may earn a commission, at no extra cost to you.

You pay per person, per month.

Every plan is priced per seat — one seat is one person. Two things catch people out.

CATCH 01

Paid plans start at three seats

Even if you're a two-person shop, the smallest paid subscription covers three people. Budget for three, not two.

CATCH 02

The advertised price is annual

Pay monthly instead and each seat costs noticeably more. Advertised price × seats × 12 is your real yearly number.

CATCH 03

AI credits are their own cost

Since 2026 they're purchased alongside seats rather than included, so they belong in the budget as a separate line.

Which plan a small business actually needs.

We deliberately don't print dollar amounts — monday.com adjusts them, and a stale number helps nobody. The plan advice below changes far less often than the prices do.

FREE

Two people, forever

A taste of the tool. Basic boards, no automations. Fine for trying it, tight for running a business.

BASIC

Small teams starting out

Unlimited boards, but still no automations — which are half the reason to use monday.com at all.

MOST SMALL BUSINESSESSTANDARD

The sweet spot

Automations, calendar and timeline views, guest access. This is where the tool starts paying for itself.

PRO

Teams living in the tool

Heavier automation limits, private boards, time tracking, and more dashboard power.

The AI credits, in plain English.

What changed

In 2026 monday.com rebuilt itself around AI — an assistant called sidekick, plus AI blocks that draft, summarise and sort things inside your boards. The part that affects your wallet:

AI now runs on credits, like a prepaid phone. Each AI action spends some of a monthly allowance. For accounts created from May 2026 onward, credits are purchased alongside seats rather than included free. And since late July 2026, the sidekick assistant consumes credits too — so heavy AI use is a real cost, not a rounding error.

The friend advice

If you mostly want boards, statuses and automations — the classic monday.com — the AI credits barely matter to you. Take the smallest credit option, or none, and ignore the upsell.

If you genuinely plan to lean on the AI assistant daily, budget for credits as their own line and watch your usage through the first month like you'd watch data on a new phone plan.

So is it worth it?

How do I know if it pays for itself?

The honest maths isn't "software cost versus free." It's software cost versus the cost of things slipping — the lead nobody followed up, the invoice nobody chased, the task two people each assumed the other had. If one saved lead or one chased invoice covers a month of seats, it pays for itself.

What if it's just me?

Then a paid plan is probably overkill, and we'd rather say so. If your business is one person and a short to-do list, use the free plan or a simpler tool. monday.com earns its keep when work passes between people.

Can I try it before deciding?

Yes — every paid plan has a free trial. Build one real board (steal one from our templates guide), use it for two weeks, then look at the price with real information instead of guessing.

Decide with real information.

Don't judge from a pricing page. Build one board, use it for two weeks, then look at the number.
